Arts Fest Expo Stage Descriptions
Enjoy a mesmerizing array of performances in dance and music, highlighting contemporary, classical, and cultural heritage. (Note: These stages combine performances that were previously featured on the Performing Arts Center and Performing Arts Center Lobby stages.)
Listen to some great bands perform a variety of music genres, such as Americana, Blues, Cuban Jazz, Pop, R&B, Reggae, and Rock. The Festival’s food courtyard offers a variety of menu items, along with tables, chairs, and umbrellas that provide a wonderful outdoor setting to enjoy the music with your meal.
Look for magicians, storytellers, puppet shows, music for kids, and variety acts like daring jugglers that will inspire, amuse, and amaze the young and young at heart.
Other Expo Activities & Attractions
From mimes to magicians, roving entertainers can be found throughout the complex interacting with Premiere Weekend patrons of all ages.
Over 50 fine artists, fine craft artisans, art and craft guilds, and antique/collectible merchants will have items on display and available for sale. Save your Mother’s Day shopping for this weekend and find the perfect gift! The selection is vast and full of variety. Costs vary by item and vendor.
The Lowcountry Gem & Mineral Society’s annual show and sale, Art by Nature, features numerous vendors offering a variety of beads, gemstones, gemstone jewelry, custom-designed jewelry, and collector minerals & fossils. Other offerings include Lapidary demonstrations and a fossil dig. Operating hours are 10:00am-5:00pm each day. Check out the list of participating dealers.
The Premiere Weekend offers many opportunities for children to be creative! Creation Station projects, led by local artists, include origami, paper crowns, African masks, jewelry making, batik, and more. Box City, facilitated by area professionals and city planners, is a favorite for children to test out their architectural dreams while building a small city.
The festival’s food courtyard, located in the outdoor area between the North Charleston Coliseum and the Charleston Area Convention Center, provides patrons a variety of delicious menu selections to enjoy. Musical entertainment by bands performing on the Courtyard Stage creates a wonderful setting for having lunch or a snack. Tables and chairs provided. Costs vary by item and vendor.
