It’s a guaranteed Sunday Funday with the Arts Fest’s first-ever “pickin’ crawl,” a day-long series of bluegrass & Americana concerts all within walking distance from one another.Start the day off at Orange Spot Coffee with a good ol’ folk/roots jam sesh with Aaron Firetag & Friends from 11am-1pm and aCinco de Mayo-inspired pop-up byChef Maya (10am-1pm). Next, head over to Commonhouse Aleworks for a swingin’ mix of bluegrass, folk, jazz, Irish covers, and originals by Charleston’s premier bluegrass (and more) band Blue Plantation from noon-3pm. Stroll on to Southern Roots Smokehouse for acoustic Americana performed by The Daniels from 2-6pm. Featuring Jeff Castle on vocals and guitar and Ellie Jos on violin, the duo plays a mix of inventive originals and well-chosen covers. Yeehaw Junction closes out the crawl at DIG in the Park from 4-6pm. An all-acoustic treat for any bluegrass fan, this lively quintet consists of Jeff Meierer on mandolin, Kristen Meierer on upright bass, Lisa Deakins on fiddle, David Grant on guitar, and Tadd Huff on banjo.
